The inside sales rep maintains, grows and services primarily existing, and occasionally, new accounts in an assigned territory, primarily utilizing phone, fax and electronic communications. Has additional accountability to proactively identify sales opportunities for Outside Sales Reps, create opportunities to up-sell and cross-sell existing accounts, re-activate inactive accounts and/or identify new account opportunities. Partners closely with Outside Sales Representatives to establish strong, long-term relationships with customers.. Ensures high-quality customer service to external customers, including rapid response to all inquiries. Executes on-time delivery according to customer specifications. Informs customers of delivery set-backs and changes in order status. Manages the order entry process, trouble-shoots problems and assists in rectifying complaints and claims. Solicits customer feedback regarding products, services, price and performance.
3-4 year college diploma or university degree in Business or related field
Willing to train the right candidate. Steel industry and/or related sales experience is valued.
Knowledge & Skills:
· Microsoft Office with a keen understanding of Outlook, EXCEL, WORD, and PowerPoint.
· College level mathematics skills are required
· Previous steel experience and product knowledge is an asset.
· Attention to detail with accuracy of data inputs is critical
· Proven ability to produce and analyze sales reports
· Sense of urgency
· Knowledge of sales performance metrics
Manages and maintains customer relationships and contractual accounts on a daily basis to attain the company goals and objectives through influencing stakeholders with the skillful application of soft skills and industry best practices.
Process orders from end to end:
o Check data accuracy in orders and invoices
o Contact clients to obtain missing information or answer queries
o Communicate important feedback from customers internally
o Ensure sales targets are met and report any deviations
o Set up new accounts
o Maintain and update customer records/information
Liaise with the Logistics department to ensure timely deliveries
Contribute with other sales team members to obtain and service our customers and coordinate with purchasing, scheduling, production, shipping, quality and finance promoting our core value of providing industry leading customer service by ensuring the smooth operation and delivery of material.
