The Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist will be stationed at our Niagara Falls, NY location but will provide oversight to all sites in Western New York as well as provide guidance to our facility in Fountain Inn, SC alongside the corporate group of EHS personnel.

The position assists in the overall compliance to regulatory requirements in US for health, safety and environment for assigned TMM sites and processes. The EHS Specialist will provide guidance and leadership in all aspects of environmental, health and safety systems by developing, implementing and monitoring safe operational processes/procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

Knowledge of applicable EHS legislation and best-practices

Lead compliance initiatives according to company and government requirements to ensure a safe, aware, responsive and compliant work environment.

Lead, facilitate and participate when appropriate in continuous improvement initiatives including incident investigations, root cause analysis and safety aspects of new processes or equipment .

Foster an environment where employees will willingly make extra effort to exceed safety, health and environmental goals and initiatives and look for opportunities to improve our processes and develop a lean, responsive and knowledgeable workforce

Develop and update policies and procedures as part of TMM’s IMS (Integrated Management System) for quality, environment and safety

Provide support/counsel to client groups with regards to the implementation of policies and procedures and their roles and responsibilities

Develop action plans for communication, training, inspections and audits

Comply with and maintain site environmental permits/approvals and Assist client groups with administering their EHS requirements (ie. Waste removal, storm water management, inspections)

Develop and deliver related training programs in order to meet legislated and other requirements including, but not limited to lockout/tag out, machine guarding, confined space entry, ergonomics, personal protective equipment, contractor safety and emergency response and preparedness

Conduct periodic audits, aspect/impact reviews and Health & Safety hazard assessments

Ensure that regular inspections of the work place are performed and that follow-up is complete for outstanding issues

Complete monthly analysis and reporting requirements, analyzing performance and trends, and meeting facilitation and minutes

Maintain associated records for OSHA/DEC-related activities

Environment, Health & Safety Responsibilities

Carries out responsibilities in compliance with the provisions of the governing Occupational Safety & Health Administration and Environmental legislation and its regulations, operating in a manner that will not create hazards, and contributes to promoting a safe workplace while respecting the environment

Recommends improvements to processes and procedures

Reports all accidents, incidents, and unsafe conditions to the immediate supervisor


Associate Degree or Higher Post-Secondary education is preferred.

3 -5 years of experience in a related health, safety or environmental role

Safety Designation an asset
